WHAT TO BUY FOR YOUR TRIP?We totally recommend that you buy a mosquito repellent. This will cost you somewhere between LKR 300 to LKR 500 per bottle (can purchase from any supermarket in Sri Lanka). You will also will find mosquito repellent sticks which you can light up and leave it in your room during the night. Some of them come with different fragments.
Hand Sanitizer is very important in Sri Lanka specially if you are travelling in the bus. This will cost somewhere around LKR 200. Get a local sim. It is a huge plus to have your own local SIM during your travel in Sri Lanka. Getting one is very simple; provide a photocopy of your passport to a mobile career center or to a local SIM card provider and just pay LKR 200. You can find them at the airport as well so simply get your SIM before you exit the airport which will help your travel a lot. We recommend to get a Dialog SIM card. Reason is that most Sri Lankans use it and it would be cheaper when calling someone within the country. How to reload your sim? Find a store (almost any store) and ask for a reload card, scrape the card and follow the instructions behind the card. For a start just buy LKR 100 normal reload and a LKR 500 data reload. You will need data to travel around and its hard to find places in Sri Lanka offering free internet even if sometimes advertised. It might be helpful to learn a few Sinhala words for your tour.
